The problem-
The FLI CFW-5-7 is offset and servrely creates an out-of-balance issue not only for the Rotator, but the Telescope balance as well. This issue causes a tremendous load on the Rotator. Even with the Pyxis 3" Rotator, it labors to move +180 deg and -180 deg.
Also, the Telescope only finds good balance at 2 specific PAs. (90 & 270).
The Solution-
To solve this problem I have designed and fabricated a Steel Balancing Weight shown below. This weight adds symmetry and gives the FW perfect balance throughout a complete rotation. Now it is possible to perfectly balance the Telescope as well.
This steel counterweight adds just over 4 lbs to the setup.
